Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson undoubtedly rank number one among the backcourt duos. Curry, 25, and Thompson, 23, make up one of the youngest backcourt duos in the NBA. They have a huge upside and, barring injuries, have fantastic careers awaiting them.

Together, Curry and Thompson provide nearly 40 points nightly. Amazingly, they do so in less than 33 shots. Unlike many of the other volume scorers listed here, Curry and Thompson provide a nearly unstoppable three-point threat that spreads the floor and benefits the entire team.

Curry, who has quickly become one of the most feared scorers on the planet, has his limitations on defense. Thompson, though, has evolved into a defensive stopper.

Often charged with the task of guarding the opponent’s best guard or wing player, Thompson is steadily improving all aspects of his game. Through the benefit of great teamwork, defensive schemes and smooth rotations, Thompson and Curry have worked well together on the defensive end to not simply be manageable.

Hands down, Curry and Thompson are the best backcourt currently in the NBA. Period.
