The Golden State Warriors lost former assistant coach Mike Malone to the Sacramento Kings in late May, and one of Malone’s first moves as Sacramento’s new head coach could be to add Bob Beyer, who’s currently a Warriors assistant.
The report comes via Ric Bucher of CSN Bay Area. Below is a passage of Bucher’s report on Sulia.
Beyer and Clifford know each other well from their days in Orlando as Magic assistant coaches. Don’t look for the Warriors to be in a rush to fill the vacancies; assistant coach Darren Erman is in charge of the summer-league team, so the team is adequately covered as far as offseason responsibilities.
In the same report, Bucher also lists the Charlotte Bobcats as another landing spot for Beyer due to his connection with Steven Clifford. Clifford and Beyer coached together in Orlando.
The Warriors hired Beyer to be an assistant coach in September, 2012. Beyer previously spent five years in Orlando serving as Stan Van Gundy’s assistant. Before coaching at the NBA level, Beyer coached at a handful of college programs, including Dayton, Texas Tech, Northwestern and Wisconsin. He was an assistant coach at all four schools, never really establishing himself.
