Josh Smith recently signed a four-year, $54 million contract with the Detroit Pistons. He took a backseat to the Dwight Howard media spectacle, but he was still highly sought after.
Smith will take – and make (sometimes) – shots from anywhere on the floor, but the only place he shoots at an elite level is around the basket. This past season, Smith made 30 percent of his three-point attempts, but made 70 percent of shots within five feet.
As I mentioned earlier, players fall in love with the three-pointer. If Smith wants to take his game to the next level and really help his new team out, he will abandon jump shots and aggressively attack the basket.
