In a fierce battle — literally — between two exciting Western Conferences teams, the Golden State Warriors fell to the Portland Trail Blazers 113-101 thanks to a late surge by the Blazers.

What will be talked about in the next few days will be the skirmish that took place in the third quarter that resulted in three players — Draymond Green, Wesley Matthews, and Mo Williams — being ejected and ignited the Blazers offense. Portland closed the game on a 42-22 run following the altercation, and ran away with a double-digit victory.

The Warriors entered the fourth quarter with a five-point lead, but quickly saw that evaporate. LaMarcus Aldridge scored 15 points in the quarter, 11 of them on free throws. He finished with 30 points and 21 rebounds, and was no match for David Lee.

The two teams interchanged scoring runs throughout the first half, literally exchanging scoring bursts. Wesley Matthews hit three straight three-pointers in a row during the first quarter, and led the Blazers with 13 points at the half. Meanwhile, Thompson lit up the scoreboard for the Warriors, scoring 18 points on 7-of-8 shooting. He finished with 30 points to lead the way for the Warriors, but fouled out in the fourth quarter. Golden State led 54-49 at the half.
