What has been a formality for at least a month is now likely confirmed: Kevin Love will be in a Cleveland Cavaliers uniform next season.
Adrian Wojnarowski of Yahoo Sports reported Thursday morning that an “agreement in principle” has been reached between the Timberwolves and Cavaliers to send Love to Cleveland in exchange for Andrew Wiggins, Anthony Bennett, and a protected first-round pick in 2015.
The deal cannot be made official until Wiggins is eligible to be traded on Aug. 23, 30 days after he signed his rookie contract.
So what are the odds the Warriors swoop in and make a last-ditch proposal before the Cavaliers can complete the deal? Slim:
Will Warriors make 11th hour push to derail Cavs-T-Wolves deal? They’ve considered Love-to-Cavs agreement done for a while, so I’m told no.

The Warriors were the frontrunners to land Love, but their unwillingness to give up Klay Thompson coupled with the Cavaliers’ signing LeBron James is that swung the tables. Cleveland was also obviously willing to include Wiggins, who as a No. 1 overall pick is a terrific return for the Timberwolves.
So, I guess the Warriors are content with standing pat and signing Thompson to a lavish extension, and let the “could’ve, should’ve, would’ve” complaints pour in.
