Jerry West's son named associate GM of Santa Cruz Warriors

The Golden State Warriors organization appears to be one that values family — Joe Lacob’s son, Kirk, is the team’s assistant GM, and now Jerry West‘s son, Jonnie, has been named an associate GM of the Santa Cruz Warriors, a D-League affiliate of the big club.

Jonnie West along with Patrick Sund were named associate GMs of the team, the Warriors announced on Friday. West served as the director of player personnel for Santa Cruz last season and “assisted in all player personnel matters.” Jerry, his father, is an NBA legend and an adviser with the Warriors.

Sund has been with the Warriors for six years and served as the Manager of Scouting last season.

The Warriors also announced that Kirk Lacob, who was the GM of the Santa Cruz Warriors for the past three seasons, will no longer continue in that role, but will serve as an adviser for the club.

Despite a shaky first half where they trailed 40-35 heading into halftime, Team USA rebounded in the second half and ran away with a 98-77 win over Turkey in their second FIBA World Cup game.

Kenneth Faried led all scorers with 22 points. Klay Thompson had six points, while Stephen Curry finished with nine on three 3-pointers.
