The Golden State Warriors’ Draymond Green was selected to his first All-Star team as a reserve alongside Klay Thompson.

Best team in the NBA, yep. On pace for 72 or more wins, yep. Three All Stars, yep.

More from Blue Man Hoop

The Golden State Warriors, as the best team in the NBA, deserved multiple All-Star selections. They got their wish on Thursday Night.

Draymond Green and Klay Thompson are joining MVP Stephen Curry in Toronto. This was Thompson’s second straight appearance and Green found out about his first appearance through his mother Mary Babers-Green.

Both Green and Thompson deserved to be All-Stars.

It was an embarrassment that Green was outvoted by Kobe Bryant and Zaza Pachulia. The NBA should be ashamed of themselves. Yes, this is Bryant’s last season, but he’s still not an All-Star, simple as that.

Green, who’s the best power forward in the NBA right now, deserved to start the game. He’s the Warriors most important player, more so than Curry. Curry is the best player in the NBA and soon to be two time MVP. However, anyone who watches the Warriors knows that Green is the heartbeat, the guy who makes all the winning plays for the Warriors.

Green, like Thompson, is a product of Curry’s greatness, however, a lot of the plays he makes can’t be coached or prepared for. Green, has proven that he’s more than a system player. Not only has he become the best power forward in the NBA because of his play on both ends of the floor (sorry Blake Griffin fans), he’s also on par with Lebron James as far as being the best point forward in the league.

The San Antonio Spurs are still having nightmares over some of Green’s passes last Monday. The Spurs aren’t alone with their nightmares.

Green’s emergence has freed up Curry and Thompson even more than before.

Thompson deserves his All-Star bid as well. He’s really improved in some key aspects of his game this season. These include, driving to the basketball, finishing around the rim, pick and roll passing and just playmaking in general.

He’s still a “three and D” guy, but the continued development of these aspects makes him more dangerous than he was last year. The past game against the Dallas Mavericks was an example of his improvement. He still made multiple threes, but his ability to drive to the basket and get to the free throw line made his game against the Mavericks the best offensive game of career.

Next: Two More All-Stars

It’s only right that the Warriors have three All Stars. They are the best team in the NBA, on pace to break the Chicago Bulls 72 wins and be one of the greatest teams ever. If they didn’t have at least three All Stars, the NBA coaches would need their intelligence checked.

Dub Nation, once again has the opportunity to enjoy watching their own players participate in All Star Weekend. It just keeps getting better for Warriors fans.
