Stephen Curry has established himself as one of the biggest stars in the NBA. He and the Warriors earned high praise from peers and basketball icons during All-Star Weekend.

Stephen Curry is the most exciting player in the association.

More from Stephen Curry

To us mere mortals, Curry’s feats are astonishing. He’s also grabbing the attention of many of the league’s biggest figures. The reigning MVP received a lot praise over All-Star Weekend.

One of basketball’s deadliest scorers and cult icons, Allen Iverson, showed his admiration for what Curry is doing on the court right now. In an interview with Sirius XM Radio, the one-time MVP said:

"“That dude, that light-skinned dude. Ah, man. I never seen anything like this in my life. I was a certified serial killer, but this dude has it all. He got the jumper, his handle is what it is … God man. This dude right here is unreal.”"

This isn’t the first time “The Answer” has talked about Curry. When asked about the premier ball handlers in the NBA because he was one himself, Iverson said that both Cleveland’s Kyrie Irving and Curry are doing things that he couldn’t do.

One of the biggest story lines all weekend was that Kobe Bryant would be playing in his last All-Star Game. Curry suggested that he would give the ball to the retiring 5-time champion in hopes that he could come away with the game’s Most Valuable Player award. The Laker legend, who has never been shy about wanting the ball, deflected Curry’s offer.

From CSN Bay Area:

"But when Steph Curry admitted that fact to Bryant earlier this weekend, the Lakers great — keeping in character — responded by questioning the Warriors star’s sanity.“Steph said, ‘I have a lot of assists for you,’” Bryant said. “I said, ‘Don’t. What are you doing? You’re a shooter, you grew up watching me. What the hell are you talking about, you’re going to pass the ball at an All-Star Game? Are you crazy?’”"

The biggest sign of respect for the Warriors’ point guard went unsaid and, if not for keen eyes, would probably have gone overlooked.

Bill Russell, the greatest champion of all-time, was wearing a pair of Curry One Lows. I can attest to the comfort level that the signature Under Armour shoe provides, but wearing signature shoes for basketball icons means just a little more than you and I wear them. Russell, who handed Andre Iguodala his Finals MVP trophy less than a year ago, is visibly supporting Curry and his brand.

When one of the greatest and most important pioneers of the game is wearing your signature shoes, you know you’ve made it as a basketball player.

The recently crowned three-point champion, Klay Thompson, also had a very cool moment over the weekend as well. He had a conversation with none other than Michael Jordan who gave Thompson his “blessing” to go after the single-season wins record.  Other stars around the league were asked about the Warriors’ chances at breaking the Bulls’ record and many acknowledged that this Golden State team is truly great.

After spending the entire offseason being disrespected by anyone and everyone around the league, Curry and the Warriors are earning the respect they deserve, but they still have their work cut out for them over the final 30 games of the season and into the playoffs.
