Point Guard: Stephen Curry

Let’s start with the reigning two-time MVP, Stephen Curry. There is no doubt that Curry will be one of the highest rated players in 2k17, just as he was last year. He followed up an unbelievable 2014-2015 season which culminated in a championship, with an even more awe-inspiring 2015-16 campaign.

If we look at his rating in previous years, it is clear it is on the rise. But after being rated a 92 when 2k16 was released, in game updates pushed that number as high as 99 (yes, a maxed out Steph was released following his unanimous MVP selection). Lets look year by year to see how Steph’s real life numbers compare with his video game numbers.

Curry came on to the scene midway through the 2012-13 NBA season with his iconic 54 point performance at Madison Square Garden. It is no surprise that the very next year, his 2k rating was set a an 88. The following season, Curry became an All-Star for the very first time and finished the season averaging 24 points and 8.5 assists while shooting 47% from the field and 42% from three.

The following year his 2k rating went up just one point to an 89 overall. It was the next season, however, that he really had his coming out party.

His 2014-15 season was the iconic MVP season that ended in a Warriors championship. The Warriors dominated the league, but his averages went down ever so slightly. However it was his ability to lead the team to one of the best records of all time that allowed his 2k rating to rise to 92.

We all know the story of this past season. 73-9, back-to-back MVPs, first ever unanimous MVP, the superlatives go on and on. The dude averaged 30 points, grabbed just over two steals per game, both career highs, and also became a member of the 50% (from the field)-40% (from three)-90% (from the free throw line) club.

His base three point rating in 2k16 came out as a 95, however after shattering his own league record for three pointers made with 402, there is no doubt that number should go up.

The man, and the team, set the league on fire as both had one of the best seasons in NBA history.

2k17 rating prediction: 95
