The Golden State Warriors defeated the Dallas Mavericks in blowout fashion and won their fifth straight game.

With just 11 games to go in the regular season, the Golden State Warriors are catching fire at the right time without Kevin Durant. On Monday night, the Warriors defeated the Dallas Mavericks for their fifth straight win on the season and their fourth straight blowout overall.

In the race for the best record in the Western Conference, this is the perfect time for Golden State to go on a run. So long as they keep taking care of business, the San Antonio Spurs simply are going to run out of time if they try to catch the Warriors for the top seed. It also puts pressure on the Spurs to remain perfect.

Back in Dallas, the Warriors were putting on a defensive clinic while getting complete production from across the board. It was another benchmark game for Ian Clark, as he continues to be the next big piece in the Warriors’ rotation.

The young guard had 18 points off the bench and continued to solidify his role as the playoffs draw near. People like to argue that the Warriors lost depth by adding Kevin Durant, but it feels like they still have plenty of depth and young talent to make the team even deeper.

Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson combined for 40 points on the night. A night after the duo made 14 three-pointers, they combined for eight. The key offensively, just as it always has been for Golden State was passing the ball.

They once again crossed the 30-assist threshold, which is a magic number of sorts for this team. Curry chipped in nine assists and Draymond Green tacked on eight of his own. Perhaps the strangest stat of the night was that in a game where Golden State locked onto Dallas defensively, Green didn’t have any steals or blocks.

The Mavericks didn’t turn the ball over as much as one would expect either. The Warriors just forced them to take uncomfortable looks while they had no problem making the tough shots of their own.

It was impressive to see them come out with the energy that they did on the back end of a back-to-back situation. That’s five wins in a row for Golden State and two quality road wins that will help propel toward the best record. They now return home for two and a chance to inch even closer.
