Rest has continued to prove to be a major key for the Golden State Warriors in their run to another NBA Championship this postseason.

For the second time in as many series, the Golden State Warriors find themselves healthy and soaking in all the rest while they await yet another opponent. It was the story in the first round, as they swept the Portland Trail Blazers and waited for the Utah Jazz and Los Angeles Clippers to finish up their song and dance.

Now, the Warriors find themselves navigating the seas in that sturdy boat yet again. This time, they have swept the Utah Jazz and are awaiting either the San Antonio Spurs or Houston Rockets. No matter the scenario, the Warriors will be playing basketball in Texas very soon.

However, it has an all too familiar feeling to it as the first round. The Spurs are banged up while the Rockets are trying to prove they can make a serious run at an NBA Championship. To say the Warriors will just sweep either one would be foolish.

What is in their favor is once again being able to rest while these two teams put all these minutes on their bodies. Mike D’Antoni’s offense loves to run at a tepid pace and the Warriors love to do it as well. Being the more fresh team in such a scenario is the major advantage.

The Spurs have lost Tony Parker and Kawhi Leonard is pushing through the pain currently. The Spurs not being at full health is certainly another advantage for Golden State. Needless to say, it pays for the Warriors to sweep these series quick and let the others grind it out.

The Cleveland Cavaliers have been executing the exact same strategy over in the Eastern Conference. The Warriors have had the fortune of getting Portland and a young Jazz team getting their first taste of a playoff run. The next team they face will be an experienced one and where things get interesting. They’ll be all the more rested for it.
