The Golden State Warriors should inquire about Kristaps Porzingis

The Golden State Warriors are not going to get Kristaps Porzingis. While he is an extremely unique talent, the Warriors don’t need him. Still, they should give Phil Jackson and the New York Knicks a call about him.

If you play around with the trade machine, the Warriors can land Porzingis by trading Patrick McCaw, Kevon Looney, and Damian Jones. In order to make the money work, it would have to be all three of those players. And, while McCaw is valuable with potential, he is no Porzingis.

Those three players would not land Porzingis. But with the mess that Phil Jackson has going on in the Big Apple, you never know. Crazier things have happened. Call Jackson and he’ll answer. Despite what he says, it’s clear he has no idea what he’s doing and, perhaps, the fact that McCaw and co. are NBA champions would make him do something ridiculous.

But, inquiring about Porzingis (and any other star on the block) would allow the Warriors to assess how valuable their talent is. Many Warriors fans are very high on McCaw and understandably so. He’s clearly talented and his ceiling can be pretty high. Furthermore, he’s young and cheap.

So maybe the Warriors try to get a sense of how valuable Jones and Looney are. If they could move the latter for something, I don’t think that would be a bad thing. He hasn’t been able to stay on the court since the Warriors drafted him out of UCLA two years ago.

Basically, the whole thought process about hitting up Phil Jackson and the Knicks is that you have to shoot your shot. Even though sometimes you’re going to miss, sometimes you might hit something you didn’t expect to. The Warriors have done that a lot over the last few years so, perhaps, they can make something happen again.

Again, they’re not going to land Kristaps Porzingis. But you have to do your due diligence especially  when a unicorn is on the market. Also, I want to see the world burn.
