Golden State Warriors: Conor McGregor trains in Jason Richardson throwback
Ahead of his fight with Floyd Mayweather in August, Conor McGregor was seen training in a throwback Golden State Warriors Jason Richardson jersey.

There hasn’t been an anticipated fight in boxing like the upcoming one between Conor McGregor and Floyd Mayweather in quite some time. Between the ridiculous four-city tour and the words the two have been tossing at each other, it’s going to be a spectacle or a one-sided disaster. Regardless, it’s going to be entertaining. With McGregor being the big underdog in this card, his chances could be compared to the “We Believe” Golden State Warriors that knocked off the Dallas Mavericks.
Therefore, it is only fitting that McGregor busted out the Jason Richardson jersey from that era while he was training during his four-city tour. In a video posted by TheMacLife Productions, the UFC champ is seen wearing the jersey while training.
He went with the home whites that the team proudly wore in the 2000’s up until they went to the current uniforms that they have now. The symbolism of this jersey choice is a perfect one by McGregor as well.
Richardson was a leader of those teams and hit some big shots along the way with some dunks involved. If McGregor is going to do what no one has ever done before, he is also going to need to land some big shots against Mayweather.

Very few teams in the history of the Warriors are beloved as that team in the 2006-07 season. While they were ultimately eliminated in the second round of the playoffs, the work they did to eliminate the Dallas Mavericks is one of the most memorable in NBA history.
If McGregor is able to defeat Mayweather outside of his element, it will be one of the most memorable in sports history. His odds are probably near or equal to what Golden State’s was to win that series. It’s the perfect jersey choice for training ahead of his fight.
