Klay Thompson has had a historically great career for the Golden State Warriors so far. Let’s reflect on one of his record-breaking moments.

When looking back at the last decade of NBA basketball, Klay Thompson is easily one of the more underrated players. Thompson played a pivotal role in leading the Golden State Warriors to five straight NBA Finals and helped win three championships during this stretch.

Thompson has done some incredible things while being the second or third option to Stephen Curry and Kevin Durant. Even in his diminished role, Thompson has been able to set a few records.

Today, we want to take an extra-long look back at his memorable night versus the Chicago Bulls. Shooting 14-of-24 from the 3-point line, Thompson stole the single-game record from his Splash Brother, Stephen Curry, and stood alone with the most 3-pointers in one night.

This was a textbook game from Klay. He played less than 30 minutes and scored 52 points while only attempting five shots that were not 3-pointers. It was as simple as catch-and-shoot for Thompson as there was seemingly no stopping him in this matchup.

Oddly enough, this explosion came at a weird time for Thompson. He broke the record eight games into the 2018-19 NBA season and in the seven games prior to this one, Thompson had shot a horrid 5-for-36 from deep. In just one game, he nearly tripled his season total for 3-pointers.

This isn’t the first time Thompson set an NBA record for 3-pointers. In the 2016 NBA Playoffs, Thompson erupted for postseason record 11 3-pointers while facing elimination versus the Oklahoma City Thunder.

dark. Next. Klay Thompson wants to be a Warrior for life

As we wait for Klay to make his return from the ACL injury he suffered last year int he NBA Finals, we can reflect on his greatness and look forward to more record-breaking nights from the five-time All-Star.
