Stephen Curry is a household name. Klay Thompson owns the second-best stroke in the league. Harrison Barnes has justified the most hideous tank job in history by coming into his own as a small-ball power forward.

The Golden State Warriors have had a bumper crop of postseason heroes. But what about the other guys?

Prior to Curry’s emergence as possibly the greatest shooter in playoff history, analysts knocked Golden State’s lack of a hero ball superstar — a go-to option who could create his own shot in crunch time. Barnes lacked the experience or handles, Curry lacked size and Thompson lacked an ability to penetrate.

That left backup point guard Jarrett Jack as the only Warrior with a proven ability to create his own shot and get to the line. Jack, though capable, is no one’s idea of a first option, and as such, Golden State won the bulk of its pre-All-Star break regular season games relying on a scoring by committee system.

Game 4 felt like a return to the pre-All-Star break Warriors. With Curry and All-Star forward David Lee hamstrung by nagging injuries, Golden State needed contributions from everyone (even Andris Biedrins) to knock off the San Antonio Spurs in overtime.

Who knew?

The Golden State Warriors weren’t even supposed to make the playoffs this year, much less overpower the Denver Nuggets in Round 1 with their lone All-Star David Lee on the bench. Now, they’re tied 1-1 in a second-round series after beating the San Antonio Spurs on the road for the first time since Latrell Spreewell wore blue and gold.

The Warriors are a really good, sometimes great, sometimes transcendently weird basketball team that only plays better in front of Oakland’s overjoyed home crowd. The win in San Antonio will no doubt help the young team’s confidence coming back to their court, where they went 28-13 this season.

Of course, San Antonio has been and always will be a dangerous team. Tim Duncan, Tony Parker and Manu Ginobili will not be phased by the deafening roar of Oracle Arena, and I’m still not convinced that Gregg Popovich isn’t just an older version of Noah Emmerich’s stone cold special agent from “The Americans”.

To win, the Warriors will need to keep their composure and maintain the pace they played for 7.5 quarters in San Antonio. Here are a few factors that will contribute:
