Number 30: Curry’s Ankle Can Heal
One positive spin this morning on the NBA lockout is that Steph Curry’s ankle is healing. And with the likeliness that the season will not start on time, at least a push back of training camp, Curry has a little more time to heal that ankle of his. Remember last season? I was adamant that the Warriors needed some backups…in every position. But with a team that is riddled with injuries and lack of depth, Curry had to play with a bum ankle. Have you ever played with a bum ankle? It’s downright painful. Not because of the physical pain, [...]
Coach Nelson Is Out!
It’s official. Word on the street that new owner, Joe Lacob, bought out Nellie in his contract for about $6 million. Nellie will happily fly back to Hawaii and live out the rest of his life in retirement. Assistant coach, Keith Smart, will take over his job. Clearly, new ownership wanted the Warriors to play a different type of basketball and this was the first step. Warriors can finally have a real coach that will actually coach them. Granted Nellie is the winningest coach in the league, recently passing Lenny Wilkens, but his record for coaching the Warriors have been [...]
Game 1= Close Loss
The Rockets looked terrible and the Warriors looked no better. It’s almost like we wanted to lose when both superstars of the Rockets are out! They played ok, not great, but ok. Who impressed me the most? Of course our young rookie, Stephen Curry! First, him being named starting PG, that almost seemed like it was the match to start another fire with Monte Ellis. But no news is good news, and unless they had some issues internally that were never shown to the public, Ellis, seems to take it all in stride. The rookie had a very good showing. [...]
Turmoil
Another day and still the same old conflict that is tearing up this franchise. It’s amazing that we are only 2 years removed when the Warriors erased a 13 year playoff drought and things started to look bright for this franchise. Then, two years later and the team is in disarray. Stephen Jackson was suspended two pre-season games for his outburst the other night towards Nellie. Onlookers describe the scene to be not pleasant and it was clear that Jackson was agitated with something. He picked five fouls and a tech in only a matter of ten minutes. The outburst, [...]
Storms Are Circling
A few weeks ago, Stephen Jackson was in NY to help his Al Harrington out. He made some comments that obviously hurt the Warriors fans, and everyone from the management to fans, believed he was, “Jack being Jack. Flash Forward and you know that the NBA season is about to start when teams are attending their own Media Day. Although he was fined by the NBA, using the media as an outlet to demand a trade, reporters still insist on him clarifying what he said in New York. Although they don’t receive a solid yes or no answer, it’s clear [...]
Adding a new Curry
I don’t remember where I was reading or hearing this bit, but some basketball analyst had said that Stephen Curry would be a player to watch during the NBA summer league. The sharpshooter isn’t particularly built like his NBA teammates and the analyst wrote/said, that it would be interesting to see him try to get his shot off or create his own shot against bigger and stronger men in the NBA. Well I happened to flip the tv on and there it was. A summer league game featuring the Warriors. I can’t quite remember who they played, but I think [...]
