3 buyout targets the Golden State Warriors must keep an eye on
Robin Lopez
The Golden State Warriors added size this offseason by bringing in James Wiseman.
Wiseman was the team’s second-overall pick, but he’s yet to be truly unleashed. There’s no telling if the Warriors will trust the rookie in the playoffs. Wiseman is averaging just over 20 minutes per game.
That means for 28 other minutes without Marquese Chriss, the Warriors either have Kevon Looney in or are likely rolling with Draymond Green at the center. That’s why the Warriors need Robin Lopez.
Lopez is currently playing for the Washington Wizards. A former first-round pick, Lopez has played in ten games and has averaged 6.0 points per game. He’s shooting a career-high 59 percent from the field.
The size plus the efficiency could make RoLo a perfect addition. He’s not a high-ceiling player, but he is good enough to contribute for Golden State. Lopez’s 16.6 percent defensive rebounding rate is also the best of his career.
Lopez can rebound, score, and do both at a solid rate. That’s what the Warriors frontcourt needs, especially since he’s so experienced in the league.
