Cleveland Cavaliers

Landing a top-three pick in the 2021 NBA Draft would be huge for the Cleveland Cavaliers who feel they are only a few pieces away from seriously contending for a playoff spot in the East. It’s unclear what position they will prioritize but it’s hard to imagine they pass on Evan Mobley if he’s available at three.

Mobley is a unicorn. Standing over 7-feet tall and possessing an all-around skill set to put the ball on the deck, shoot from the 3-point line and protect the rim, it will be difficult for any team to convince themselves not to select Mobley.

In 27 games with USC, Mobley is posting 16.1 points, 8.6 rebounds, 2.9 blocks 2.1 assists. He’s finishing roughly 60 percent of his attempts from the floor and despite a below 30 percent clip from deep, he has all the makings of a stretch big with a clean release.

The only problem here is potentially sharing the frontcourt with Jarrett Allen, a 22-year-old center who fulfills Cleveland’s need for a rim runner. Yet, the inside-outside combination of these two could make for a very interesting rendition of the twin towers – giving the Cavaliers great height and versatility in their font court. The only question is, would their bigs be capable of defending quicker centers and forwards?
