2021 NBA Draft Mock: Golden State Warriors land two picks
By Tony Pesta
Orlando Magic
The Orlando Magic are starting to realize that Nikola Vucevic and Aaron Gordon will only take them so far. Along with drafting Cole Anthony, placing some stock in Markell Fultz and hoping Jonathan Isaac makes a full recovery, the Magic have taken the first steps forward with their rebuild – but drafting Scottie Barnes could help them accelerate the process.
Barnes is a 6’9″ athlete with a smooth jump shot and defensive capabilities. He has a powerful frame that helps him bang with other opponents and has a high-ceiling as a two-way threat in the NBA. The Magic would benefit greatly from the defense and spacing Barnes can provide.
Washington Wizards
Unless the Washington Wizards shock us all and elect to trade Bradley Beal against his wishes, we’d expect the team to work hard towards building a contender around Beal and Russell Westbrook. They’ve placed quality supporting players like Davis Bertans and some young prospects such as Rui Hachimura and Deni Avdija – but it’s going to take a bit more to get the ball rolling here.
Jalen Johnson is the ideal prospect for them. He’s a fairly polished prospect with untapped potential. His long build and athleticism would make for an exciting fit next to the Wizards’ guards and his versatility on both ends of the floor can help them make the leap towards competing in the East.
