4 former Golden State Warriors that could return in free agency
Warriors potential free agency addition: Alec Burks
After a down season that was spread out between the Jazz, Kings, and Cavs, Alec Burks made his way to the Warriors in the 2019 offseason. He was part of the team’s 15-win season last year, and he made the most of it.
Burks averaged a career-high 15 points per game between his stints with the Warriors and Sixers.
Burks was dealt to the Sixers along with Glenn Robinson III for three second-round picks prior to the 2020 trade deadline. Both were on expiring contracts, so it wasn’t necessarily anything Burks did to deserve being dealt.
If anything, he played himself into having that value. He’s been crushing it with the Knicks, where he signed this past offseason. Burks is averaging 13 points per game and shooting over 40 percent from deep.
Burks is averaging both a career-high 2.0 threes per game and 40.8 percent shooting from downtown. Burks and Immanuel Quickley have been the focal points of an above-average second unit in New York.
He’ll have a market this offseason, one that may not allow the Warriors’ budget to swoop in and steal the undervalued forward.
