Warriors potential free agency addition: Marquese Chriss

The Golden State Warriors traded Marquese Chriss to the San Antonio Spurs prior to the 2021 NBA Trade Deadline. It was one of their two deadline deals, the other being the Dubs trading of Brad Wanamaker to Charlotte.

Chriss started last season in Golden State. When Ky Bowman and Damion Lee transitioned to the 15-man roster, Chriss signed a two-way deal to stay with the team. Needing frontcourt help and seeing the potential Chriss has, the Dubs brought him back.

Chriss, with Golden State last season, averaged 9.3 points per game. As with Robinson and Burks, Chriss exploded onto the scene with the opportunity provided to many forgotten players on Golden State’s team in late 2019. He also shot a career-high 54.5 percent from the field.

A free agent this coming offseason, Chriss will enter the market without playing a game for the Spurs. He should have good reason to rejoin the Warriors as they’ll still have the need for frontcourt talent.
