The Golden State Warriors did it.

They advanced to the Western Conference Finals, although in 6 games not in 5 like their first-round series victory over the Nikola Jokic-led Denver Nuggets. They’re one of two teams, the Miami Heat being the other, to notch their ticket to the conference finals.

The Golden State Warriors should want to play the Luka Doncic-led Dallas Mavericks in the Western Conference Finals.

Their opponent has yet to be named though as a Game 7 between the Dallas Mavericks and Phoenix Suns will be necessary to break their 3-3 tie. Tip for the high-profile battle is set for 10 p.m. ET on Sunday evening.

Every home team has won throughout the first 6 games, so it looks like things are pointing in the Suns’ favor. They’re also the deeper team with a more balanced scoring attack. But, the best player on the court plays for the Mavericks.

Young superstar Luka Doncic has taken over the series, and his heroics have been the main reason Dallas is even one game away from their first Western Conference Fnals trip since the great Dirk Nowitzki days.

Luka’s 31.1 points per game rank second in the NBA.

He’s shooting 46% from the field and 32% from deep, drilling 3 triples per game. It’s been a fantastic showing from the star guard who averaged 28.4 points per game this season. At just 23, the future of the NBA is bright with Doncic as one of the rising superstars.

However, taking down the Suns, who are the only team in the NBA to rank top five during the regular season in both offensive and defensive rating, on their home court, will be a different beast to the guard.

The Warriors, though, should want the Mavericks to come out on top as Phoenix poses a far greater threat to both the Dubs’ weaknesses, turnovers and size.

The Suns ranked 6th in the regular season in opponents turnovers and also have a legit two-way center in Deandre Ayton. Both of those, as we saw in their series against Memphis, are very concerning parts of the Warriors’ play.

Phoenix could bully the Warriors with Ayton and also force them into turnovers. The Mavs wouldn’t have the same ability to do either which is why, if the Warriors have any hope, it’s for a dominating Luka performance on Saturday.
