In the sports world, a dynasty is known as a word referring to a franchise that has repeated championship success. Dynasties are and few between. In the past decade and a half, the Los Angeles Lakers and San Antonio Spurs have achieved enduring success that catapulted them into the esteemed company of teams that have won multiple championships.

So what does it take to become a dynasty?

The Spurs have won four championships in five NBA Finals over the past 15 years, and the Lakers have won five in seven over the past 14 years. Youth, talent and coaching are all important factors to winning multiple championships, but having a player that transcends all others is needed. Kobe Bryant and Tim Duncan (as well as Michael Jordan, Magic Johnson and Larry Bird) have been and will continue to be a part of the greatest players of all-time discussions.

Let’s take a look at and rank the five teams that may be able to achieve that caliber of success in the coming years.

Pacers should be here, they have a much better chance than the new Spurs at least

I´m sorry but you must be plain stupid or you don´t know basketball. Pacers have not had the continued sucess that the Spurs seem to sustain. Now had you said the clippers, I´d agree with you there. Don´t get me wrong, Pacers are an excellent team but nowhere near close to the Spurs. Even when Timmy and Manu are gone Spurs will somehow pull a rabbit out of the hat and be right there in the thick of things. They have a genius front office, probably the best in the NBA.
