Golden State Warriors are Western Conference Champions
The Golden State Warriors finished off the sweep of the San Antonio Spurs and clinched their trip to the 2017 NBA Finals on Monday night.
For the 12th straight time to begin the playoffs, the Golden State Warriors have secured a victory. On Monday night, the Golden State Warriors completed their third sweep of the playoffs and eliminated the San Antonio Spurs in the Western Conference Finals.
The game started as well as it could possibly have for the Warriors. San Antonio struggled to shoot the ball early, while the Warriors were red hot from the field. With a double-digit lead early in the game, Golden State could smell blood in the water as they looked to put this game away.

Kevin Durant took command of the floor once again with his amazing passing. His ability to open up lanes for the other shooters on the floor allowed Golden State to take a commanding lead while the Spurs tried to find their offense.
In a way, the night felt like it was going to be the end for the Spurs from the beginning. Once Manu Ginobili was introduced to the crowd as the starter for potentially one last time at home, it almost felt inevitable.
Nonetheless, Ginobili gave everything he had just as he did in the third game. He certainly didn’t play like a guy that was ready for retirement. The Spurs aimed to make a run at this game late in the third quarter, but the splash zone was open for the Warriors.
Back-to-back three’s from Draymond Green and Stephen Curry put this thing nearly on ice heading into the final frame. With Curry and Durant getting rest to begin the quarter, Andre Iguodala used his defense to make sure his guys on the bench had nothing to worry about.

Three huge transition layups kept this thing out of reach and Golden State was able to cruise until the end and bring it home. It is the third year in a row that the Golden State Warriors are Western Conference Champions.
All they are left waiting for now is whether or not the Cleveland Cavaliers will be joining them in June. It seems likely, but Cleveland didn’t seem as intent on putting things away quickly as Golden State has with their blunder on Sunday night.
