The Golden State Warriors’ acting head coach Mike Brown has responded to Cleveland Cavaliers head coach Tyronn Lue for his comments.

Last year, Tyronn Lue took over as the head coach of the Cleveland Cavaliers midseason. He took a team that was reeling and turned them around. When they had their backs against the wall, he managed to lead his team to overcoming a 1-3 deficit in the NBA Finals and coming away with one of the most impressive championship victories in league history.

Mike Brown is attempting to be the second guy in as many years to start the season as an assistant and win a championship. Now, the circumstances are different. But it’s no easy task to step into that role and win a title.

The Golden State Warriors have already punched their ticket to the NBA Finals. Soon, the Cavaliers will too. They just need to put their foot back on the gas and finish off the Boston Celtics.

After going up 3-1 in the Eastern Conference Finals, Lue made some head scratching comments about the Celtics and the Warriors. He said that Boston was more difficult to defend than a Warriors team with Stephen Curry, Kevin Durant, Klay Thompson, and league’s best offense.

Regardless of what he was trying to get at or if he honestly believes that, his comments made their way to the Bay Area. Brown heard them and he told media “that’s his opinion. It’s cute.”

It’s a pretty funny line to say. The Warriors find motivation in the smallest things so this will probably go onto their bulletin. It’s nice to see that Brown is ready to be a part of this rivalry.

Brown coached the Cleveland Cavaliers twice. He was there when LeBron James was leading the Cavs to 60 win seasons before his move to Miami, from 2005-2010. He also coached a young(er) Kyrie Irving for one season before being fired again.

He will, most likely, be the one coaching the Warriors as they look for their second Larry O’Brien trophy in three years. This rivalry (and yes, LeBron, it is a rivalry) is only going to get better and more intense. This preliminary talk just adds to it.

June 1st can’t came soon enough.
