The Golden State Warriors won Game 1 of the NBA Finals in convincing fashion, but they can’t get too high after the victory.
The Golden State Warriors dominated the Cleveland Cavaliers in Game 1 of the NBA Finals. After a week and a half of preparation, only one team was ready to play. The Dubs cruised to a 113-91 victory.
It was a great win. The Warriors pushed the pace and got into a free-flowing game. Kevin Durant was able to get six first half dunks. Golden State was running everywhere.

The Warriors punched. Then they punched again. Then they punched a few more times. The Cavaliers just took it on the chin, failing to even throw let alone land a counterpunch.
It was exciting. Oracle Arena was roaring. Stephen Curry was kicking the sky after pull-up threes. It was the party that the Bay Area had been waiting for for a year.
Durant proved that he made the right choice and that he was an integral part of what the Warriors do, not just some guy along for the ride. Curry showed that he plays a little differently when he has a healthy knee. Draymond Green and Klay Thompson were phenomenal on the defensive end.
The Warriors controlled the tempo. They took care of the ball and were sharp with their passes. They broke the game open and did what they wanted.
Golden State can’t get too high. Their work is just starting. They have only played 48 minutes.

The Dubs took their foot off the gas last season. Draymond Green admitted so after the Game 1 victory, telling the NBA TV crew that after coming off a championship and building a 3-1 lead, they expected to win. They lost focus and let the lead and the title slip away.
The Warriors are on the right track. They still have things to improve on. They didn’t play a perfect game.
Ultimately, it’s just one game. The Cavaliers can win Game 2 and change the entire complexion of the series. The Warriors need to stay level and continue to work until that final buzzer in their fourth victory sounds.
