A slasher may be the best interest for the Hawks if Josh Smith decides to sign with a new team. Perhaps his status as a first-pick is questionable, but he has shown vast improvement. From his freshmen year when he averaged 2 .9 points, his scoring average skyrocketed to 17 points in his junior year. Franklin thrived as an off ball slasher and cutter in his three years at San Diego. He displayed a high IQ for his movement away from the ball to get open looks.
