5. An Aging Game

This is the only part of the Iguodala trade that could come back to haunt the Warriors directly.

At the end of the day, the Olympian can do a little bit of everything. Even if his high-flying dunks aren’t immune to age, his court vision and ball handling will not fall off dramatically as he grows older. Given his all-around game, the Warriors can mitigate the effects of aging by shuffling him into roles that don’t require the young high-flying Iguodala of old.

The swingman has already demonstrated that he can do just that, as in his 2011-12 season where he averaged just 12.4 points, he still managed to average 6.1 rebounds and 5.5 assists on a 76ers team where the best player was Louis Williams.

It is undeniable that “Dre” is getting older and he will likely never post numbers close to his younger years, so the question changes from “when” to “what.” We already know that he is on the decline in scoring, but what will be the effect to his ball-handling, defense and rebounding as he grows old and how much of a toll will his age take?
