Make way for the geriatric brigade! Kobe Bryant, Steve Nash and Pau Gasol may be dinosaurs, but they can still rip your face off if you aren’t careful. Now that the “Dwightmare” is over in Los Angeles, expect the Lakers’ Big Three to prove to the league that they are still relevant.
Assuming that Kobe’s Achilles is properly healed, he is a player that can go for 30 points every night. He will push himself harder than anyone else in the league. That is both his gift and his curse.
Nash struggled through injuries last season and never really found his groove. He may not be what he once was, but if he starts clicking with Kobe and Pau, he could pull a Tim Duncan and show the world that life in the NBA doesn’t end at 35. And then there’s Pau…
No one expects the Lakers’ Big Three to lead their team to a deep playoff run this year. However, the old men could play spoiler and pull off a first-round upset, sending some young guys home early. They may not be the best anymore but don’t tell them that.
