8. David Lee Named an All-Star (Jan. 24, 2013)

Many fans have criticized David Lee for his poor defense and his large contract. Writers such as Tim Kawikami of the San Jose Mercury News have pointed out that his frequent double-doubles are overrated and that his liability on defense is an issue.

But also keep in mind that the last time the Warriors had an All-Star was Latrell Sprewell in 1997, the same season that Sprewell choked head coach P.J. Carlesimo during practice.

So fans can at least appreciate Lee stamping his name in Warriors history and helping bring them back to relevancy. And it wasn’t as if Lee was undeserving of the All-Star nod. He averaged 18.5 points and 11.2 rebounds last season, and was the Warriors’ most consistent producer during the regular season.

Of course, fans, writers, and analyst were more focused on the fact that Stephen Curry was snubbed off the squad. They shouldn’t be worried, as Curry’s pretty much a lock to make it in this year.

It’s pretty safe to say that there will be a representative from the Warriors at every All-Star game in the near future.
