3. Curry Lights Up Madison Square Garden (Feb. 27, 2013)

People in the Bay Area knew long before Feb. 27 that Stephen Curry was a budding star, but it was not until his performance on the national stage under the bright lights of Madison Square Garden did the rest of the country really take notice of this special talent.

Curry scored 54 points and drained 11 three-pointers against the Knicks. He didn’t get much help from his teammates as the Warriors wound up losing, but it was nonetheless a legendary night for the baby-faced assassin.

Curry knocked down shots from left, right, and center. At one point, he scored 15 consecutive points for the Warriors, then went on an absolute tear during the fourth quarter. He made several ridiculous threes from long-distance, including a pull-up three on a 2-on-1 fastbreak that gave the Warriors a 100-99 lead.

“He’s in a zone all by himself,” said ESPN commentator Mark Jones, after Curry hit the go-ahead shot.

And he probably was. If you watch the video, you’ll see Draymond Green was left hanging as he held up his hand to give Curry a high-five. Instead, Curry was doing a little shimmy while running down the court, oblivious to Green and to anybody else, even as his teammates tried to congratulate him.

Curry was simply in his own zone, and nobody — not even his own teammates — could snap him out of it.
