The annual NBA All-Star Game isn’t known for its lockdown defense and grit and grind style.

It is instead a stage for the best players in the league to showcase their skills, for high scoring and high-octane basketball and for individual stars to steal the show.

More from Stephen Curry

LeBron James, Kevin Durant and James Harden will all be looking to establish their status as the best three players in the NBA, but it will be Golden State Warriors point guard Stephen Curry that will walk out of Madison Square Garden as the game’s MVP.

Curry is averaging 23.6 points and 7.9 assists per game so far this season, and essentially that is exactly the kind of combination that you need to seal the crown, as he has displayed some dazzling vision and execution when dishing out the dimes for his teammates this year.

As shown by Chris Paul and Kyrie Irving in recent years, the ability to run the game is key in winning the award, and the 26-year-old is certainly capable of doing that as he will also benefit from having a deep Western Conference roster around him.

Curry is more than capable of shooting lights out if in the mood, and MSG is certainly no stranger to that kind of performance from him.

While the other half of the Splash Bros is equally as dangerous in terms of finding his scoring stroke from beyond the arc, Curry also has that weapon in his favor.

It is highly unlikely that we will see the players on the East roster flying out to close out the shot unless it gets competitive down the stretch, and so that should translate into numerous open looks.

The Warriors star is more than capable of shooting lights out if in the mood, and MSG is certainly no stranger to that kind of performance from him after he racked up 54 points at the Mecca of basketball back in 2013.

Curry shines on the big stage and it is no surprise that he has emerged as a legitimate contender for the regular season MVP award this year.

Golden State have the best record in the league at 42-9 and with a scoring average of 110.6 points per game, Curry is a huge reason behind that success as he continues to lead the way for his team.

The competition will be fierce on Sunday night, but given it’s the All-Star Game, it would come as a shock if it wasn’t. However, the stage is certainly set for Curry in New York, and it won’t do his hopes any harm that a familiar face in Steve Kerr will be his coach.

In addition, the field isn’t quite as competitive given all the injuries with Kobe Bryant, Anthony Davis, Blake Griffin, and Dwyane Wade dropping out.

Fifth in the league in assists and seventh in scoring, the All-Star Game 2015 is crying out for Curry to be the one to light it up at the Garden.
