Klay Thompson’s Injury and his Potential Replacements

While Justin Holiday is the Warriors’ most likely choice to replace Thompson, Leandro Barbosa’s offensive ability fuels this team. Barbosa is much more polished offensive player, who hits the three at a high rate, has an array of flip shots he can go to at any time and would provide the Warriors with veteran leadership at the shooting guard position.

But even though he is instant offense, the Warriors probably will not start him because he is a defensive liability.

Barbosa is very quick but his lack of strength and length hurts him on defense. Opponents constantly try to penetrate or post him up, having great success. The Warriors cannot have any liabilities on defense because as we have seen this season, it is the Warriors defense that fuels their offense. When they get stops on a consistent basis, they are very successful and this is why you do not see David Lee, a poor defender, getting much playing time lately.
