The attention in the first round series was all around the Pelicans’ Anthony Davis and (to a lesser extent) the Warriors’ Stephen Curry. After all, these were the two superstars doing battle against one another, and this was Davis’ first appearance in the playoffs.

The two stars performed incredibly, showcasing their amazing talents for the world to see. But if it were not for the Warriors’ Draymond Green, Davis’ performances might have been even more impressive.
Just think about it, Davis averaged 31.5 points, 11 rebounds, and 3 blocks per game in the series. While Draymond Green was on the court, the Warriors were plus-77. When he was off, they were minus-45. Davis’ averages could have been a lot higher if Green played less than the 41.5 minutes per game he averaged.
Green was the only Warrior that could defend Davis adequately, and without him, Davis could practically do whatever he wanted. Green put up 15.8 points, 12.8 rebounds, 6.3 assists, 2.5 steals, and stifling defense per game on his way to being one of the Warriors’ best performers.
