The MVP

I’ve said this before: as a Warriors fan that is used to losing, I’m waiting for this ride to end. I don’t want it to, but there’s a part of me that believes this is way too good to be true. This can’t happen to us, right? We’re supposed to be awful. Good things can’t happen to us. All-Stars and playoffs and MVP press conferences happen to other teams, not us. And yet, every time I pinch myself, here we are. This is the reality we now live in. Wardell Stephen Curry II has brought a pipe dream to existence. That is why he’s the MVP.

More from Stephen Curry

Curry has overcome every obstacle imaginable. He’s climbed every mountain and brought the whole Golden State Warriors organization with him. You can talk about Andrew Bogut and Klay Thompson and Steve Kerr, but everything starts and ends with Curry. Over the last 5 years, the Warriors have been rebranding themselves. Curry is the face of a franchise that has transformed itself from perennial loser to championship frontrunner and this MVP award just confirms the successful change; our most prized possession earning the league’s most prized award. Walk around your local Bay Area neighborhood and you’ll surely see a no. 30 shirt or a blue and gold hat. That’s Curry’s doing. Golden State is proud of its star and we love our point guard. According to the NBA, he’s finally worthy of the title; but for Warriors fans, Stephen Curry has always been the MVP.
