Relive the Golden State Warriors Season With This Mini-Movie (Video)

Let’s face it: it’s been a very boring offseason for the Golden State Warriors. They took care of business early, re-signing Draymond Green to that well-deserved contract, honored David Lee with his request for a trade, andflipped the corpse of Gerald Wallace into Jason Thompson – a serviceable back-up big man.

And with virtually no basketball to satisfy the thirst (unless you were watching Festus Ezeli in the NBA Team World vs Team Africa game), this little walk down memory lane is the oasis to the desert we are all wandering in.

Here’s my written commentary as I’m watching it:

It starts off with a few highlights of the regular season – a few dunks spliced between Stephen Curry raining threes. Celebrations galore, Curry doing his patented roar, Draymond thumping his chest.

The focus shifts to the playoffs – the first round against the New Orleans Pelicans. The goosebumps kick in when they replay Curry’s tying-three in Game Three, especially as the music crescendos and the crowd roars when the ball sails into the hoop. They cut to a celebrating Dell Curry and Seth Curry, ecstatic and proud that their son just helped the Warriors do the incredible and finish a 20-point comeback in a quarter.

Next up, Curry’s MVP presentation.

“You’re the leader of the team who had the best record in the NBA this season. This is a tribute not just to you, but to the entire organization, and the fans in the Bay Area. It’s also particularly special, as you’re the first player in 55 years as a Warrior to win MVP, and the last one was Wilt Chamberlain – so you’re in very special company.”

Well said, Adam Silver.

More goosebumps as Curry gives his speech. When players thank the fans for their support, there’s usually a PR-aspect to it – pump up the fans, tell them you love them, remind them they’re important. But with the Warriors, you can tell it’s true. No fanbase in the league quite matches the rabid Oracle Arena crowd.

The video cuts to the Memphis Grizzlies series, as the threes rain down to “it’s going down fo’ real” by Going Down for Real by Flo Rida. Man, Curry really is a wizard with the handles, crossing everyone up (that one over Jeff Green for the and-one is especially delicious).

THE CURRY BOMB FROM THREE-QUARTERS OF A COURT AWAY. (As if you needed a reminder that the kid CAN shoot). Wow, they really made it seem as though the Grizzlies were manhandled by the Dubs in this cut.

Conference Finals. Houston Rockets. Perhaps my favorite series of their playoff run.

Only Draymond could get so amp’ed from being fouled by Dwight Howard. And speaking of Dwight, we’re treated to the sight of Curry outrebounding the big Rockets’ center.

The Splash Brothers combine to take on James Harden with the clock running down. Harden loses control of the ball, time runs out, and he collapses to the floor. Spectacular moment as the Warriors really could’ve lost that game.

More Harrison Barnes dunks – he really needs to do more of this next season.

Ahh, more Curry on Howard humiliation as Curry waltzes past Howard on his way to the basket.

First Western Conference title since 1975, of course the fans are going to be loud, Doris!

NBA FINALS!

A clear difference from the start: lots of Warriors’ highlights that feature teamwork and passing, while the Cleveland Cavaliers are all LeBron James. More dunks, fast ball movement, and threes.

All these looks at the rim really reminds me of how poor the Cavaliers’ interior defense was. (Unless of course, it’s revisionist history).

EZELI ON THE FOLLOW WITH THE FOUL!

We start seeing more Andre Iguodala highlights – a reminder of why he won the NBA Finals MVP (SPOILER ALERT).

More goosebumps as the Warriors celebrate their title win. Everyone looks so happy, but the crowd is eerily quiet (we’re in Cleveland, remember?).

“What did I say six months ago? Six months ago, what did I say?”

“We gonna be championship!” You’ve got to hand it to Leandro Barbosa – he did call it.

Finally, no Warriors’ video would be complete without “CoCo” by O.T. Genasis.
