Klay Thompson of the Golden State Warriors is already one of the top players at his position in the NBA, and yet he still doesn’t seem to get the respect he deserves.

There’s literally only 25 players in the NBA that had a player efficiency rating at or above 20.00 last season according to ESPN. Of those 25 players, only 20 of them had an EWA (estimated wins added) value at or above 12 wins.

12 of those 20 players guards, and only four of them are considered shooting guards. Among those four shooting guards, only three of them were selected All-Stars last season.

And of those three All-Star shooting guards, only one of them scored more than 50 points in a single game last season, which included him scoring an NBA record 37 points in one quarter alone. In addition, only one of those three All-Stars had a defensive rating below 100, had an offensive rating higher than 108, and won a NBA title.

There’s no denying that Thompson is an emerging star in this league, and with him playing alongside the reigning MVP, Stephen Curry, there’s no telling what these two guys — rightfully nicknamed “The Splash Brothers” — may do over the course of their careers.

But going into just his fifth year in the NBA, what can we expect from Klay Thompson moving forward?
