Thompson is an NBA champion, and he played an integral part in the Warriors’ path to the title by consistently drawing defenses with his jump shot and stopping offenses dead in their tracks.
Per ESPN, Thompson averaged 21.7 points, 3.2 rebounds, 2.9 assists, and 1.1 steals. Furthermore, he shot 46.3 percent from the field, 43.9 percent from behind the arc, and 87.9 percent from the free throw line.
According to NBA Stats, Thompson had an overall offensive rating of 113.5, which was surprisingly higher than that of offensive dynamo, James Harden (107.7). On the opposite end, Thompson had an overall defensive rating of 97.7, which was even better than that of Jimmy Butler (101.8).
Other than his rebounds per game — which was 0.5 away from his career best — Thompson had himself a career season this year, posting career highs in every general statistical category. While his regular season production this year may have lost some consistency come the postseason, the consistency he’s shown in terms of improving year to year has been nothing short of impressive.
That said, the question now is whether this upward trend will continue into the first season of his new four-year, $70 million contract.
