Worst Case: Warriors Struggle Due to Inexperience
At 35, Walton is one of the youngest head coaches in NBA history. His lack of experience as a head coach shows as the Warriors are outcoached in multiple losses. Everyone begins to realise that the Warriors were only able to win last season due to Kerr’s coaching, and without it, the Warriors are just another run-of-the-mill team in the West.
As a result, the players begin to question themselves and the tactics. It also turns out that the players were only content with personal sacrifice as long as the results were good – with the results poor, they begin to bicker and argue for more playing time.
By the time coach Kerr returns, the Warriors are no longer in a position to defend their crown. They still make the playoffs, but due to the seeding, face a difficult road. They lose in the second round. Walton’s potential as a head coach drops drastically after his horror debut at the helm.
