The Golden State Warriors had a near perfect roster last season, but there is always room for improvement (I’m looking at those 15 regular season losses, simply inexcusable).
If there was one criticism of the rotation last year, it was that the bench unit lacked a go-to shooter on the perimeter that Shaun Livingston and the other guards could confidently pass to for three points.
Often, Klay Thompson or Stephen Curry would have to stay on the court in order to stretch out of the defense. Both Livingston and Leandro Barbosa, the first guards off the bench, are players who excel at driving to the hoop and then kicking it out to the wing or simply finishing it themselves, which allowed defenses to crowd the lane. Combined with Andre Iguodala, a 33 percent career three-point shooter, floor spacing was an issue for the second unit.
Bob Myers and his front office set out to fix that issue this offseason. They signed Ian Clark, Jarell Eddie, Tony Mitchell, Juwan Staten, and Ben Gordon, while recent acquisition Chris Babb is still on the roster. The six will be battling it out for the final roster spot on the team.
So who has the best chance at securing that last spot?
