Juwan Staten is a 6’0″ rookie point guard who played for three years at West Virginia University after transferring from Dayton.
Staten made the All-Big 12 defensive first team his junior year and the All-Big 12 First Team in both his junior and senior years. Those impressive accolades are probably what led him to the Warriors’ camp, but I see Santa Cruz as a more likely destination for him than Oakland. I see him following in the footsteps of Aaron Craft, another small defensive-minded guard who led the D-League Warriors to a championship last year.
Finally, we have Ben Gordon. Gordon is an 11-year veteran in the league. A 6’3″ shooting guard, Gordon is much like Ian Clark, but he is 30 pounds heavier than Clark, weighing in at 200 lbs. flat, which should make defending bigger players easier. Clark has shot 40 percent from beyond the arc for his career, but his numbers have been going down recently.
