Breaking the Chicago Bulls Record

Other than defending as champions, much of the NBA world will be watching the Warriors closely to see if they can win more games than the Michael Jordan-led 1995-96 Chicago Bulls, That team won an incredible 72 games and winning a championship, going down as the best team in NBA history.

The Warriors are on pace to break that record but it will be tough in today’s NBA. The Warriors certainly have the talent to achieve this goal but recently, the team has had to deal with a lot of injuries. In addition to Barnes, Curry has been nursing a leg injury, Festus Ezeli a toe injury and Leandro Barbosa a sprained shoulder. The ‘95-96 Bulls were extremely healthy with only Dennis Rodman missing significant time.

The record does mean something to this team but it is not the ultimate goal. If Coach Kerr sees that some players need rest, he is going to give those players time off. In today’s NBA, there are many coaches at rest their players in order to be ready for the postseason. Just look at the Spurs, who have already started the resting process with Tim Duncan and Tony Parker. The Warriors may do the same against weaker opponents in 2016, causing them to lose more games than they should. If that rest results in not breaking the Bulls’ record but winning another NBA championship, no Warrior fan will care how they got there. All that matters is another championship.
