The Golden State Warriors continued their dominance over the New Orleans Pelicans. Here are the best quotes from that night.

The Golden State Warriors and the New Orleans Pelicans met in the opening round of last season’s playoffs. Stephen Curry‘s Warriors were the best team in the league and were expected to defeat the eighth seed, but superstar Anthony Davis had his team looking like they were ready to take a big step forward. After stealing away assistant Alvin Gentry from Golden State, the Pelicans were supposed to improve.

Unfortunately, injuries have derailed them all season long and, with their apparent limited amount of talent, that has been costly. While the Pelicans have been trending in a negative direction, the Warriors have continued to rise at a historic pace, starting their season with two blowouts of the Pelicans in three games.

On Curry’s birthday, the Warriors dominated the Pelicans 125-107, extending their record home winning streak. The birthday boy had some thoughts on turning 28.

While Curry and Klay Thompson have established themselves as the two premier three-point shooters in the league, there’s another Warrior who’s right on the cusp of establishing himself as an elite marksman. With time winding down, Andrew Bogut had to hoist a long ball which actually looked pretty good.

Two weeks after vocal leader Draymond Green went on his halftime tirade in Oklahoma City, he addressed the team again in the locker room. Per CSNBayArea.com:

"“Draymond was brilliant,” coach Steve Kerr said. “His decision-making, his defense, just the way he organized us. He’s taking on some of that role with Andre out.“He gave a little comment at halftime to our guys about our defensive activity that was really important. And the guys responded.”"

Curry added:

"“It was basically for us to get more aggressive,” Stephen Curry summarized. “To use our talents and quickness and IQ as a team, defensively, to our advantage, to not be so cut-and-dry, vanilla with our coverages and stuff. Take some chances, have each other’s backs and rotate.“That’s when we’re at our best, when we can create chaos on that end of the floor.”"

Bogut commented on the Warriors defense that stifled Davis and New Orleans.

"“Our defense wasn’t great in the first half; it hasn’t been great the last couple weeks probably,” center Andrew Bogut said. “We haven’t been as stable defensively as we were last season. (Green) addressed it and said, ‘We’ve got stop playing the matchups in this game, because sometimes we need to actually just go out there and fly around and do what we do to disrupt teams.’“We were not doing that as much this last couple weeks for some reason, so we need to get that back.”"

Not a quote, but here’s an awesome photo of the birthday boy having his cake and eating it too.

It’s safe to say he’s earned it.
