Golden State Warriors’ point guard Steph Curry has struggled with Avery Bradley.

Bear with me here.

We are living in the era of the elite point guard. It’s impossible to win without one and it just might be the deepest position in the league right now. There are some truly incredible talents at that position, players with such different styles that all work for them.

Avery Bradley is not the first guy that most people would think of. Russell Westbrook and Chris Paul are probably the two names that come to mind first. Followed by Damian Lillard. Then, if you’re a prisoner of the moment, Kyrie Irving.

In a ranking of top point guards, Bradley probably doesn’t crack the top-five. But he’s the best at one particular facet of the game: defense. The Boston Celtic is the best defensive point guard in the entire Association.

Matching up with Curry is a tough assignment. If you only let him score 25, then that’s a successful night. Not a lot of guys are up to the challenge, but Bradley is definitely one of them.

He can stick with the two-time MVP better than most, if not, all. He hounds him, using his long arms to disrupt to get in his passing lanes and force him to hesitate. He moves his feet well, sticking with one of the best ball handlers in the game.

Offensively, Bradley is inferior to pretty much all of the top point guards that come to mind. But the rest of this team can score the ball, with several guys that need the ball in their hands. It’s why Westbrook and Paul wouldn’t necessarily be the best fit on that end despite being better offensive players.

He averaged 15 points per game and his 37 percent of his catch-and-shoot threes, according to NBA.com. That, combined with his defense, would be enough to earn him a spot on this fantasy five. And let’s be real: Steph Curry cooks all those other guys anyways; Bradley gives this team the best shot.
