What super team can beat the Golden State Warriors?
Power Forward – LeBron James
The Golden State Warriors’ super team can only be stopped by LeBron James.
Duh.
LeBron James is currently the best basketball player in the world. While I believe that after two consecutive MVPs Curry held that title, it is no longer his. James dominated the NBA Finals and willed his Cleveland Cavaliers to overcome the odds.
There’s nothing he can’t do on a court. He’s one of the greatest to ever do it and, even after so many years, he’s still at the top of his game.
James is the best small forward in the league and he’s even better at playing power forward. He has Karl Malone size with a guard’s speed and vision. He’s a cyborg. He’s the greatest athlete we’ve ever seen in the sports world.
It’s hard to create any kind of super team without Superman. It would be nearly impossible to score on some combo of Leonard and James, who can switch with each other with no issue.
Offensively, he would be the leader. He needs to have the ball in his hands. It’s why I didn’t choose Westbrook or Paul, two guys that need the ball a lot. It’s not about the touches, but rather the time of each touch. Those two dribble the ball until they find someone, even if it takes 22 seconds. More time for them means less for James.
That’s not happening.
With George and Leonard, there’s enough spacing to give James room to operate in the midrange and in the paint. LeBron playing power forward is the biggest, most unfair matchup in the entire league.
He is the best there is. He’ll probably be tasked with having to figure out this team next June. Fortunately, for the Warriors, he won’t have four other All-NBA and All-Defensive players next to him.
