Kevin Durant and the Warriors: How did we get here?
By Eric He
You will learn Draymond Green’s name — and quickly
This summer, the Warriors will draft Harrison Barnes (7th), Festus Ezeli (30th) and Draymond Green (35th).
In four years, the first two players won’t even be on the team anymore. And Green, a chubby, undersized forward out of Michigan State, will be the heart and soul of the Warriors.
He will transform right before your eyes from a raw product who plays hard but doesn’t necessarily have the skill set to a complete player who can play any position, defend anyone, run the offense and hit big shots.
He will trash talk enough to make up for the entire team. He will be universally loathed because he gets under opponents’ skin (and also because he will develop a penchant for hitting people in the groin that may have cost his team a championship. Don’t ask. It’s a long story).
Some people will call him the most valuable player on the Warriors, because while Steph and Klay shoot lights out, it’s Draymond who keeps the engine running with his hustle, energy and high-basketball IQ.
