2. Desire to win

Cousins is the best big man in the entire NBA.

By the time the Warriors can get their hands on him, he’ll be 28 and in the prime of his career and (except for maybe Karl-Anthony Towns) probably still the best at his position.

Unfortunately, the Sacramento Kings have been absolutely awful throughout his entire career. From top to bottom, they’re incompetent. Their peak is mediocrity. Really, it’s just a horrible situation for Cousins.

They haven’t made the playoffs since he arrived in Sacramento. Poor scouting and drafting and no free agency influence have forced the Kings to surround their franchise player with minimal talent. Their coaching hires haven’t done enough to both keep Cousins engaged and elevate the team. George Karl wanted to trade him. Seriously!

Assuming Curry resigns, the Warriors will have four All-NBA players in the middle of their respective primes in the year 2018. Most likely, they’ve won at least one of the previous two championships.

Unless there’s a miracle of some sort, the Kings aren’t going to turn it around in time to prove to Cousins that he should stay for basketball reasons.

Zaza Pachulia isn’t the long-term answer for the Warriors and it’s hard to imagine this year’s first round draft pick Damian Jones ever being as good as Cousins is. Boogie is too talented to be wasting his time with an organization stuck in a constant rebuild.

He’ll bolt for the Bay Area because it gives him the best chance at winning and being a part of the greatest team of all-time and creating a dynasty.
