2014-16 Chinese New Year

The Golden State Warriors have become leaders in the NBA in terms of inclusiveness.

They understand that they have a diverse fan base. So in January 2015, the Warriors unveiled a special sleeved jersey that celebrates Chinese New Year. They continued to build on the sleeved tradition they had started while introducing something no one has ever done before.

The uniform itself is spectacular and the red and yellow of Chinese culture really pop and catch the eye as they lay on the charcoal jerseys and shorts.

The center circle is similar to the one on their regular jerseys with the bridge going across it. Just above it, where the number is usually placed, “Warriors” is spelled out in Mandarin. There’s a really wonderful and intricate piping going down the two sides, red and gold for good luck and happiness respectively.

The 2015 version featured a goat on the right sleeve, symbolizing the animal being celebrated that year. The 2016 version seems to have originally been meant to keep up with the animal theme and the retail version features a monkey patch on the sleeve. When they wore them, though, the Warriors ditched the patch and went with a red and gold Warriors logo on their left sleeve.

The Warriors haven’t worn it much, but it’s looked great on the court and they have won with it. Their first game in it, they defeated the San Antonio Spurs at Oracle Arena.

This uniform makes the list because of it’s eye-catching colors and revolutionary symbolism.
