Former Warriors Return to Oracle: 11/9/16

This night will mark the first game that former Warriors Harrison Barnes and Andrew Bogut will return to Oracle with a different jersey since their offseason departures to accommodate the Durant signing. Bogut and Barnes weren’t franchise changing players, but they, like many others, were instrumental in the revitalization of this franchise. They were there when the team made the playoffs for just the second time in 19 years, and they were there when they won 73 games in a season.

Warriors fans have a bitter taste in their mouth when it comes to Barnes after his disappearing act in the 2016 NBA Finals, but he was a key piece in their success over the past four seasons, and believe it or not, he will (and should) be missed. His career was up-and-down, ending in disappointment. But he was a part of some of the best teams ever.

Bogut will be missed more in the hearts of Dub Nation as well as on the court. Bogut was a key piece to the Warriors top notch defense, and his rim protection will be greatly missed. His passing will also be something that the Warriors won’t have from the center position next season, as he remains one of the best passing big men in the league.

However, the adition of Durant is more than enough to help us get over the departure of these two respected Warriors. Last season the Mavericks handed the Warriors one of their nine losses, and with the addition of Bogut and Barnes, they may have just gotten a bit better. Expect a warm reception.
