NBA Finals Rematch: 12/25/16 & 1/16/17

One of the most exciting days of the year, sports fan or not, has to be Christmas Day. Presents are stacked under the tree, family is over, and bright lights are everywhere. But Christmas for an NBA fan is all of that plus a whole lot more, as the league usually has a decent slate of games from morning to night to appeal to nearly every basketball fan.

The Warriors and Cavs will once again face off on Christmas Day. And once again it will be a Finals rematch from the year prior, only this time it will be LeBron James and the Cavs who will have the bragging rights. The Cavs, who completed a historic comeback, battled back after falling down 3-1, unfortunately at the hands of the Warriors. There is no doubt Golden State will be focused for this one.

The two teams will then meet at Oracle less than a month later on January 16th. Last season, Stephen Curry mentioned that the away locker room at Quicken Loans Arena still smelled of champagne from the celebration of the 2015 title. It’ll be interesting to see what LeBron has to say before he makes his return to the sight he won Cleveland’s first major sports title in 62 years.

Last season, the Warriors swept the Cavs 2-0 in the season series, which included an 89-83 win at Oracle on Christmas Day and a 132-98 drubbing of the Cavs in Cleveland. This season, Cleveland will be the host of the Holiday rematch and “The Q” will likely be rowdy. But Oracle will definitely remember what happened last June once the Cavs enter the building.
